WHO Competency Framework for Health Workers’ Education and Training on Antimicrobial Resistance

Released in 2018, this document outlines a set of core and additional competencies to guide the education and training of health workers in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The competency framework is a tabular matrix of the AMR domains, health worker categories and the competencies (knowledge, skills, attitudes) necessary to effectively address AMR in practice settings. The framework adopts an interprofessional approach based on the principle that addressing AMR requires a shared understanding, and effective collaboration and communication among health workers.

Survey: The development of a framework to support integration of IPE in the classroom

A couple of years ago, together with colleagues in Norway, Prof. Susanne Lindqvist conducted a study aiming to explore teachers' views of their role in helping students achieve outcomes set as part of their interprofessional learning provision (DOI:10.1080/13561820.2018.1534809).

Interprofessional Leadership

A topic that was mentioned several times was leadership - what is interprofessional leadership? Is it different from usual leadership methods? What does it mean in your context? Is there an cultural aspect to it?

Comments, reflections etc would be appreciated. Perhaps this could become an EU funding bid for INHWE next year.

Longtitudinal evidence for IPE

One of the main comments I have heard in the 15 plus years I have been involved in IPE is - where is the longtitudinal evidence that it works. There is lots of evidence that illustrates that without good interprofessional team working things can be a disaster eg - The Francis Report, Victoria Climbie inquiry, the Case of Baby P., Caleb Ness Inquiry etc But where is the positive evidence? There have been one or two articles over the years with attempts at longtitudial analysis but there is a need for more.

After Nicosia

Dear all

The conference at Nicosia raised lots of interprofessional issues for collaborative practive and education. Some of these were interwined with other topics such as cultural awareness, gaming and workforce planning.

There were a number of issues that were mentioned throughout the two days and some of these could be addressed in the discussion forums. I will post these separately as issues to discuss and would love to hear from you with comments, arguments, suggestions or ideas
