On 23 May 2018, the British Medical Association, the European Junior Doctors Association (EJD), the European Medical Students' Association (EMSA), the European Union of General Practitioners/ Family Physicians (UEMO), and the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) co-presented a discussion on 'Keeping Europe Healthy: Brexit and the European Medical Profession'. The event was hosted by MEP Wajid Khan. The presentations provided an insight into the potential effects of Brexit on the health workforce, EU-based research, the future of public health and on collaboration in healthcare between the Republic or Ireland and Northern Ireland. All speakers agreed that Brexit must not harm patients or the health workforce.
