Communication with people who speak a foreign language in difficult due to the meaning of the words used taht is being lost because the language spoken is not native for the patient. Many times, misundersandings happen. However, communication with patients who speak ONLY a foreign language and NO common language is even more difficult. In this case, a intretator is needed in order to facilitate the communication. From my experience, even the interpetator's role is very important and should be trained in interpretation, so the message should be transfered as it originaly is.
