City of Sant Cugat del Vallès

Sant Cugat del Vallès (Sant Cugat for short) is a municipality north of Barcelona in Spain. Sant Cugat has become an affluent suburb of Barcelona due to its location (approx. 15 km from the city), its natural surroundings, and its pedestrian shopping area. The first church in the area dates back to the 4th century, and the city still provides a medieval atmosphere. Sant Cugat has its own train station with a direct metro connection into Barcelona city centre.

Climate, Language, Currency, Electricity, and Time Zone

Barcelona enjoys Mediterranean climate resulting in very few variations and over 300 days of sun a year. The city experiences long, hot, dry summers, and cool to mild winters, with most of the rainfall occurring in winter. Best time to visit Barcelona is May, June and September, October when the weather is warm and sunny and the average temperatures are around 25°C.

The official languages of the region are Spanish and Catalan, with English being understood and spoken by a great number of the population. Road signs and labels in museums are usually bilingual. Visitors to Barcelona come off well with Spanish and English, although the locals are happy about a greeting in Catalan.

The Euro (ISO code: EUR) is Spain's official currency. Cash machines (ATMs) are widely available. Most hotels, shops, restaurants and some bars accept all major credit cards. If you plan on travelling by taxi and public transport, it is advisable to bring some cash.

In Spain there are two associated plug types, types C and F. Spain operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. Time Zone: Central European Standard Time (GMT+01:00).
