INHWE Members from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) are currently leading a project called Taking Diabetes to Heart and need your help disseminating and participating in a survey that forms a key deliverable in the project.

Taking Diabetes to Heart is a new multi-country study, developed by IDF in partnership with Novo Nordisk, focused on CVD awareness and knowledge among people living with type 2 diabetes. The study consists of an online survey, available in multiple languages, and will be used to inform policy and decision-making on this common and major complication of diabetes. With this study, we aim to define the actions that are required to promote knowledge and awareness of CVD among people living with type 2 diabetes, to improve their health outcomes and address systemic challenges to healthcare systems.

Are you aware that people living with type 2 diabetes are at increased risk of developing a cardiovascular disease (CVD)? Diabetes and CVD are both global epidemics and are currently among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly affecting the populations of low- and middle-income populations. As the number of people with diabetes continue to increase, the outlook for CVD becomes even more alarming. If you are living with type 2 diabetes, we encourage you to take the survey here.

Alternatively, we encourage you to share it to any relevant organisation in your country to assist in the data collection and to direct it to the target audience. If you have any further questions regarding the survey, please contact us at takingdiabetes2heart@idf.org.
